With the 2026 NFL Draft weekend upon us, teams will introduce their latest rookie class to the league in hopes of having them become part of the next Super Bowl puzzle. The draft also means finalizing past trades that included future selections. A big one that took place was from last month when the Detroit Lions traded David Montgomery to the Houston Texans.

Lions receive: 2026 fourth-round pick, 2027 seventh-round pick, Juice Scruggs

The 2026 NFL Draft pick the Texans sent to the Lions clocked in at number 128 overall. They used this pick as part of the trade up in the second round for Michigan EDGE Derrick Moore.

The 2027 draft pick and the performance of Juice Scruggs is obviously up in the air.

Montgomery spent the 2025 campaign as Jamaree Gibbs’ running mate, but he still was able to put up good numbers for the Lions. He ran the ball 158 times for 716 yards and eight touchdowns. He also caught 24 passes for 192 yards through the air.
