The ACL crashes the sweep party, while the Dash and CBs continue to cruise through May

The White Sox minor league system had a mixed bag of results on May 15, with two affiliates cruising to victories while another saw their sweep hopes dashed. Here's how the action unfolded across the farm.

Charlotte Knights 4, Norfolk Tides 1
The Knights powered their way to a solid win, thanks to a four-run explosion in the third inning. Michael Turner and LaMonte Wade Jr. ignited the rally with back-to-back home runs, sending the crowd into a frenzy. Korey Lee then capped the inning with a single that drove in two more runs, giving Charlotte all the offense they would need. On the mound, Hagen Smith showed flashes of brilliance despite some control issues, striking out six batters over nearly four innings while allowing just one earned run and five walks. The bullpen stepped up in a big way, combining for 15 strikeouts and shutting down a Norfolk lineup that never found its rhythm.

Birmingham Barons 9, Rocket City Trash Pandas 4
The Barons cruised to a comfortable win, though a late defensive miscue kept the score closer than it should have been. Calvin Harris delivered the biggest blow of the night with a grand slam, while Anthony DePino added a solo home run to account for half of Birmingham's runs. Jacob Burke continued his hot streak at the plate, collecting singles and stealing bases with his .303 average and eight stolen bags on the season. Andy Weber chipped in an insurance run as the lineup went quiet after the early fireworks. On the pitching side, Luke Bell and Jacob Heatherly were dominant in relief, combining for four scoreless innings with just two hits allowed and four strikeouts. They locked down a Rocket City team that was desperately trying to keep pace.

Winston-Salem Dash 9, Wilmington Blue Rocks 5
The Dash stayed hot in May, but this one was far from easy. Wilmington matched Winston-Salem run for run through the first half of the game, keeping the pressure on. Drew McDaniel turned in an efficient but short outing, allowing just one run over four innings. However, Jake Peppers struggled in relief, giving up three runs that erased the early lead. The Dash offense refused to back down, though, stringing together timely hits to pull away in the later innings and secure their fourth straight win.

As the White Sox affiliates continue their May push, the Dash and Barons are proving to be the class of the system, while Charlotte's pitching depth is starting to shine. Stay tuned for more updates from the farm.
