The Kansas City Chiefs made bold moves to acquire top defensive talent in Round 1 of the 2026 NFL Draft on Thursday, and general manager Brett Veach still has an arsenal of picks at his disposal.
With Day 2 of the draft set to kick off this evening, Veach is sure to be taking careful inventory of his available assets, especially after a first-round trade cut into his massive stockpile.
Yesterday, Veach traded the No. 9, 74, and 148 picks to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for the No. 6 selection in Round 1, which was used to select LSU Tigers defensive back Mansoor Delane.
While Veach is sure to be thrilled with his first-round haul, the deal that landed Kansas City the No. 6 pick has left the Chiefs with just the No. 40 selection to make on Day 2.
Fortunately, this lone selection should be a valuable asset for Veach to peddle on the trade market, should he choose to take a more scattershot approach in Rounds 2 and 3.
