Two of the nation's best college baseball teams face off Tuesday in a rare midweek top-10 clash as No. 2 North Carolina hosts No. 9 Coastal Carolina.
The Tar Heels (36-8-1) took two of three from rival Duke over the weekend, capped by a mercy-rule 22-5 pounding Sunday. While midweek games are always a bit of a crapshoot, UNC has been consistent all season in dropping just one three-game series, to Virginia in early March.
Center fielder Owen Hull homered and drove in five in the series finale against the Blue Devils, continuing his run as the Tar Heels' top offensive threat. The junior George Mason transfer is hitting .389 with 17 doubles and 55 RBIs and boasts an even .500 on-base percentage along with 15 stolen bases.
The Chanticleers (30-13) have followed up their run to the 2025 College World Series finals with another strong season, largely cruising through Sun Belt play while holding their own in midweek games against ACC opponents. Senior Dean Mihos, a rare four-year, one-school player, leads the team with an .897 OPS, while sophomore San Diego transfer tops the Chants with 11 home runs.
