Texas A&M remains in great position to land 2027 5-star OT Mark Matthews, who is set to announce his commitment on Friday.

Texas A&M's 2027 recruiting class is already turning heads, holding the No. 1 spot nationally with 12 commitments—including an impressive four five-star prospects. For offensive line coach Adam Cushing, it's been a stellar run: early pledges from four-star tackles DaMarrion Johnson and Kaeden Scott paved the way for a huge commitment from five-star interior lineman Kennedy Brown late last month. Now, all eyes are on another potential game-changer.

Five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, a Florida native, is set to announce his college decision this Friday, May 15, choosing between LSU, Miami, Georgia, and Texas A&M. This timeline is a bit of a surprise—Matthews previously planned to take all his official visits before committing. But as any recruiting fan knows, plans can shift fast, and Matthews is ready to lock in his choice ahead of Early Signing Day.

The Aggies have strong momentum here. On3's Steve Wiltfong predicted Texas A&M would land Matthews last month, and fellow recruiting experts Jaxson Callaway and Joseph Hastings have also placed their bets on the Maroon & White. Wiltfong noted, "Matthews loves the trajectory of the program, has great relationships with several staffers, players, and top 2027 targets. He feels very comfortable with the SEC program, and that's why the Aggies are in pole position."

Miami remains a threat as summer approaches, but this announcement could be a defining moment for Texas A&M's offensive line haul. For Aggies fans, Friday can't come soon enough.
