Mississippi State baseball fans, it's time to start checking those bracket projections again. The Bulldogs are currently hanging on the bubble for hosting an NCAA Tournament regional, but the latest forecasts still have them landing at home for the first time since 2021.
Currently ranked No. 12, State holds a solid 38-14 overall record and a 15-12 mark in SEC play. However, the team has hit a rough patch, dropping its last two series against Texas and Auburn. That makes the upcoming road trip to No. 10 Texas A&M (37-12, 16-10 SEC) a critical test. The series kicks off on May 14 at 6 p.m. on SEC Network+, and every game matters now for postseason positioning.
The good news? Dudy Noble Field remains a strong candidate to host a regional, which would be a huge boost for the program and its passionate fanbase. But with the bubble tightening, the Bulldogs need to find their rhythm again in College Station.
Keep your gear ready—if State can turn things around, you might be watching postseason baseball in Starkville very soon.
