Selection Sunday has arrived, and the 2026 NCAA Softball Tournament field is about to be set. The Florida State Seminoles are riding high after clinching their 20th ACC Tournament Championship on Saturday with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over the Virginia Tech Hokies. This marks their ninth conference tournament title in the last 12 years and the 10th under head coach Lonni Alameda, solidifying their status as a powerhouse program.

The Seminoles were already a lock for the NCAA Tournament, but the win secured an automatic bid and gave their resume a significant boost. With an impressive 49-8 record and both the ACC regular season and tournament championships under their belt, the only question now is what seed they'll receive. The official selection show airs on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. ET on Sunday, but Softball America has already released its final bracketology projections.

According to these projections, the Seminoles are slotted as the No. 8 overall seed. This would put them in prime position to host both a Regional and a Super Regional in Tallahassee, provided they can navigate the Tallahassee Regional. The projected quartet includes the No. 2-seeded Washington Huskies, No. 3-seeded Stetson Hatters, and No. 4-seeded FAMU Rattlers. Florida State already dominated FAMU 14-0 this season and holds a commanding 121-7 all-time record against them. They're also 17-1 against Stetson, while the series with Washington is tied 8-8.

The ACC is well-represented in the projected field, with eight teams earning bids. The Duke Blue Devils are slotted as the No. 12 seed, giving them hosting duties as well. Other ACC teams making the cut include Georgia Tech, Louisville, Virginia, Clemson, Stanford, and Virginia Tech. As the Seminoles gear up for another potential run to the Women's College World Series in Oklahoma City, fans can expect an exciting postseason ahead.
