Jaylen Brown's MVP-caliber season is earning respect where it matters most: from his peers. In a recent anonymous poll of 159 NBA players conducted by The Athletic, the Boston Celtics star received notable recognition, tying for third place in the voting.

Brown garnered 8.2% of the vote, sharing the spot with Detroit's Cade Cunningham and Dallas's Luka Dončić. The poll was dominated by the two frontrunners, with Oklahoma City's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander leading at 39% and Denver's Nikola Jokic following at 21.4%.

The player endorsements for Brown highlight his two-way impact and leadership. One anonymous voter pointed to his role in keeping Boston elite, stating, "In terms of what the team lost last year, to come in with the (low) expectations there were and to see the standings now, it’s because of him... He does it on both ends at a super high level. He’s consistent every night."

Brown's career-best numbers of 28.8 points and 7.0 rebounds per game have propelled the Celtics to the brink of clinching the East's No. 2 seed, a feat made more impressive by the extended absence of fellow star Jayson Tatum.

While the official MVP race is largely considered a battle between Gilgeous-Alexander and Jokic—with sportsbooks no longer listing Brown among the top favorites—this peer poll underscores a significant truth: within the league, Brown's dominant and reliable performance is viewed as truly elite. It's the kind of consistent, high-pressure play that defines a franchise cornerstone and fuels a championship pursuit.
