Arkansas baseball continues to climb the national rankings, jumping four spots to No. 14 in the latest USA TODAY Coaches Poll after a strong 2-1 week that included a home series victory over Oklahoma.
The Razorbacks (34-18, 15-12 SEC) made their move following a weekend that showcased both their offensive firepower and resilience. After wrapping up final exams, Dave Van Horn's squad returned to the diamond ready to roll, opening the series with a dominant 12-2 run-rule win in Friday's seven-inning affair, powered by a complete-game performance from Hunter Dietz.
Saturday brought more drama and a taste of that Razorback magic. Trailing 8-5 in the eighth inning, Arkansas erupted for a comeback, with Zack Stewart delivering the go-ahead two-run double to seal a 12-8 victory and clinch the series. The Hogs couldn't complete the sweep on Sunday, however, as Oklahoma exploded for seven runs in the seventh inning to take the finale 15-10.
At the top of the poll, UCLA holds firm at No. 1, followed by North Carolina (No. 2), Georgia Tech (No. 3), Georgia (No. 4), and Texas (No. 5). The SEC continues to flex its muscle with nine teams in the top 25, including top-10 squads Auburn (No. 6) and Texas A&M (No. 10).
Arkansas has already proven its mettle with series wins over ranked foes Mississippi State (No. 11), Alabama (No. 16), and Ole Miss (No. 19), while dropping weekend series to Georgia, Auburn, and Florida (No. 20).
With the regular season winding down, the Razorbacks head to Kentucky for a crucial three-game series starting Thursday, May 14, looking to build momentum before postseason play begins.
