The Oklahoma City Thunder are heading into the second round of the NBA playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers, but fans shouldn't expect to see Jalen Williams on the court right away. The rising star suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain on April 22 during the Thunder's first-round sweep of the Phoenix Suns, forcing him to miss the final two games of that series.

As of Monday, Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault provided a cautious update, calling Williams "week-to-week" with the injury. "He's progressing according to plan," Daigneault said. "In terms of timeline, we're not going to release that. We'll continue to let you guys know on a week-to-week basis."

There is some reason for optimism, though. According to injury analysis site InStreetClothes.com, the average recovery time for this type of strain is about 12.4 days. Since Game 1 of the Lakers series falls on day 13 post-injury, Williams could be nearing a return sooner rather than later. That would be a huge boost for the Thunder, who are chasing back-to-back NBA championships and need all their firepower against a Lakers squad that's already missing Luka Dončić.

For now, Oklahoma City will have to lean on its depth and defensive tenacity to weather the storm without one of its most versatile playmakers. Stay tuned for updates on Williams' status as the series unfolds.
