When is Luka Doncic returning? Injury update for Lakers-Thunder NBA Playoffs Game 2

Luka Doncic is ruled out for Lakers-Thunder Game 2 of the second round of the NBA Playoffs, as the Los Angeles guard is still working his way back onto the court.

Luka Dončić has officially been ruled out for Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Los Angeles Lakers, leaving fans wondering when the superstar guard will finally return to the court.

The Lakers' offensive maestro has been sidelined since April 2 with a Grade 2 left hamstring strain—a tough blow for a team fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive. Dončić shared with the media Wednesday that he has started running, but he hasn't yet been cleared for full contact, meaning his comeback is still a work in progress.

"I'm just doing everything I can," Dončić said. "Every day, I'm doing things I'm supposed to do. Obviously, I'm recovering, and now I'm working. The doctor said eight weeks at the beginning of the first MRI. So I'm just going day by day, and I feel better every day."

That first MRI came on April 3, nearly five weeks ago. If the eight-week recovery timeline holds up, Dončić would miss the entire second-round series against a Thunder team that has already drawn first blood. Oklahoma City took a commanding 108-90 victory in Game 1 on Tuesday, showcasing their depth and defensive tenacity.

"I don't think people understand how frustrating it is," Dončić admitted. "All I want to do is play basketball, especially this time (of year). It's the best time to play basketball. It's very frustrating. Seeing what my team is doing, I'm very proud of them. But it's been very tough just to sit and watch them play."

The Lakers face a must-win situation in Game 2, set for 8:30 p.m. CT Thursday in Oklahoma City, streaming live on Prime Video. For now, the team will have to lean on their supporting cast as they wait for their floor general to heal. Stay tuned for updates on Dončić's recovery—and grab your Lakers gear to show your support during this pivotal playoff run.
