Vanderbilt basketball standout Tyler Tanner is keeping his options open as he prepares for the next chapter of his career. The dynamic guard has been invited to participate in the 5-on-5 scrimmages at the NBA draft combine, a key opportunity to showcase his skills in front of league scouts and executives.
Tanner declared for the NBA draft earlier this spring, but he hasn't closed the door on returning to the Commodores. Under current NCAA rules, he has until June 13 to withdraw his name from the draft pool and retain his college eligibility. That gives him a little over a month to weigh his professional prospects against another season in Nashville.
The draft combine, running from May 10-17, will serve as a major evaluation platform. Tanner isn't the only Vanderbilt player in the mix—fellow guard Tyler Nickel also received an invite, giving Commodores fans two reasons to tune in.
Tanner's decision will be one of the most closely watched storylines of the Vanderbilt offseason. Whether he hears his name called on draft night or returns to lead the Commodores, his talent and work ethic have already made him a fan favorite. For now, all eyes are on the combine as he takes the next step in his basketball journey.
