Alabama basketball guard Aden Holloway's legal situation has grown more serious, with a prescription drug discovery adding a new charge to his existing case. The rising senior was initially arrested after a March search by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force uncovered 2.1 pounds of marijuana, leading to charges of first-degree possession and failure to affix a tax stamp.
However, a recent indictment reveals a fourth charge: illegal possession of a prescription drug. According to court documents, agents found a bottle of Promethazine, commonly branded as Phenergan, during the search. This antihistamine is used for nausea, motion sickness, and pain management. Under Alabama law, possessing a prescription medication not directly dispensed to you or outside its original container is a misdemeanor offense.
The search also yielded $400 in cash, rolling trays, and packaging material, resulting in an additional charge for possession of drug paraphernalia. Holloway has been suspended from all team activities while his legal proceedings continue, casting uncertainty over his future with the Crimson Tide. The guard has reportedly expressed a desire to return to the program, but that possibility hinges entirely on the outcome of his case. For now, a promising collegiate career remains on hold as the legal process unfolds.
