Mike Vrabel made it clear that Dianna Russini’s resignation is not something he plans to publicly unpack.

The New England Patriots’ head coach faced another round of questions after the fallout surrounding the viral photos and Russini’s departure from The Athletic continued to dominate headlines.

But when given the opportunity to weigh in directly, Vrabel chose the same path he has taken throughout, keeping his answer short and redirecting everything back to football.

Speaking via Mark Daniels on X, Vrabel made his position unmistakable.

“I respect and appreciate every single question, but I’m not going to be able to comment on anything as it relates to that,” Vrabel said.

He added, “I appreciate your job and what you guys have got to do, but I have to make my comments and what I answer about our football team.”

Vrabel was not interested in discussing Russini’s exit, the surrounding backlash, or anything else tied to the controversy beyond what he had already said.

That restraint comes after a controversy that escalated quickly, with photos of Vrabel and Russini at an Arizona resort triggering widespread speculation before Russini resigned from The Athletic on April 14.

Vrabel has since acknowledged having difficult conversations with his family, the Patriots organization, coaches, and players, but he has repeatedly stopped short of saying anything more detailed in public.

The NFL also chose not to review him under its personal conduct policy, which effectively removed the possibility of league discipline and narrowed the issue to public fallout rather than formal punishment.

So when asked about Russini’s resignation, his answer fit the pattern. He was not going to revisit the controversy, and he was not going to let the conversation drift away from his team.

At this point, that appears to be the only public stance Vrabel is willing to take.
