The search for the next Nashville Predators general manager is heating up, and one key internal candidate has stepped into the spotlight. On May 13, assistant general manager and director of scouting Jeff Kealty confirmed that he has interviewed for the position, following Barry Trotz's retirement announcement in February.
Kealty, who has been a cornerstone of the Predators' front office, shared his thoughts on the experience with a mix of humility and discretion. "I prefer not to go too much into my interview process," Kealty told reporters at Bridgestone Arena. "It was a great experience for me. I learned a lot and I enjoyed the process. But I'd rather keep (the details) inside a little bit."
This measured approach is typical of Kealty, who has spent years building the team's scouting and player development systems. As the Predators look to build on their recent roster moves—featuring stars like Filip Forsberg, Roman Josi, and Ryan O'Reilly—the GM role is crucial for shaping the team's future.
With internal candidates like Kealty and external options still in the mix, Nashville's front office is at a pivotal juncture. Whether Kealty's deep familiarity with the organization gives him an edge remains to be seen, but his interview marks a significant step in the process.
