The New Orleans Saints made a splash on Day 3 of the 2026 NFL Draft, trading pick No. 150 to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for outside linebacker Tyree Wilson—the former No. 7 overall pick in 2023—along with a seventh-round selection. It's a savvy move for a team looking to bolster its pass rush, but the work may not be done yet.
According to CBS Sports, edge rusher remains the Saints' most pressing need even after the draft. While names like Joey Bosa and Jadeveon Clowney have been floated as potential targets, all signs point to a familiar face: franchise icon Cameron Jordan.
"The Saints already lost one longtime defensive cornerstone in Demario Davis," CBS Sports' Zachary Pereles noted. "Could Jordan be next? He can still be helpful against both the run and the pass, and it would feel strange for him to suit up for any other team. His 10.5 sacks last year were his most since 2021."
At 37 years old, Jordan delivered a resurgent 2025 campaign that silenced doubters and proved he still has plenty left in the tank. Even if it's just to bring a veteran presence to the locker room, bringing him back makes sense for New Orleans.
Sure, a reunion might seem like a move driven by nostalgia. But as the offseason rolls on and Jordan remains unsigned, the odds of his return keep climbing. The financial commitment would likely be modest—think a one-year deal with under $10 million guaranteed, plus incentives that could push the total higher. For a team eyeing another playoff run, that's a price worth paying for a proven leader and productive pass rusher.
