PIcking our biggest preferences for the 2026 Detroit Lions schedule.

The 2026 NFL schedule release is almost here, and for Detroit Lions fans, it's one of the most anticipated days of the offseason. At 7:30 p.m. ET, the full 17-game slate drops, giving us dates, times, and matchups to start planning our game-day wardrobes and travel itineraries. While a few games have already leaked, the big picture is still a mystery—and that's where the excitement builds.

So, what's the one thing we're hoping to see from the Lions' 2026 schedule? For us, it's all about the bye week timing—specifically, a late-season break.

Here's why: The Lions are facing a brutal stretch starting in Week 10, when they travel to Munich, Germany, to take on the New England Patriots. With no bye expected in Week 11, that means three games in just 12 days, including a cross-Atlantic trip. That's a tough ask for any team, even one as resilient as Detroit. While the Lions are used to short weeks thanks to their annual Thanksgiving game, adding international travel to the mix raises the stakes.

Ideally, we'd love to see a Week 9 bye to give the team a full week of rest and preparation before heading to Europe. A Week 8 bye would also work well. Anything earlier than that, and the Lions might be running on fumes during that critical midseason stretch. A late bye allows the roster to recharge, stay healthy, and hit their stride when it matters most.

Of course, there are other things to look forward to—like primetime games under the lights, or stacking outdoor games while the weather's still warm at Ford Field. But for us, a well-timed bye week is the ultimate game-changer. What's your top priority for the Lions' 2026 schedule? Let us know in the comments.
