It has been an eventful season for Collin Morikawa to say the least, with the American having been severely hampered by injury.

Morikawa has been heavily impacted by a back injury, which forced him to withdraw after just one hole of The Players Championship last month.

But he’s managed to not only power through the issue, but also produce plenty of impressive displays on the course.

Morikawa is really worried about his back, but that hasn’t stopped him from being the standout in a key area on the PGA Tour this season.

With an average of 1.136, Morikawa sits at the very top of the rankings for Strokes Gained: Approach the Green on the PGA Tour in 2026.

Well behind him in second with a figure of 0.913 is Brooks Koepka, who is followed in third by Adam Scott on 0.912.

Given his back issue, it’s a hugely impressive feat, and one that the two-time major winner deserves huge credit for.

He also finds himself ranked fifth for Greens in Regulation percentage and sixth for Proximity to Hole, with figures of 70.51% and 34′ 1 respectively, emphasizing his impressive Approach efforts in general.

Despite not being 100% fit, Morikawa is continuing his PGA Tour season this week at the Cadillac Championship.

He is paired with fellow American Rickie Fowler for rounds one and two of the no-cut Signature Event at Trump National Doral.

In Miami, he will be eager to continue his superb Approach play, but also keen to improve on the greens, with Morikawa currently ranked 112th for Strokes Gained: Putting in 2026.

That won’t be easy with an injured back, but it may just be the difference between getting over the line and falling short this week.

He has already proven time and again this season that he has the game to compete against the very best, with Morikawa boasting one win from the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

The two-time major champion also has three top fives and five top 10s from his eight starts, and his superb iron play has played a crucial role.
