Brooks Koepka is back in the hunt. After a rollercoaster start to his PGA Tour return, the five-time major champion finally delivered the kind of round that made him a household name.

On Saturday at the Myrtle Beach Classic, Koepka fired a stunning seven-under-par 64 at the Dunes Golf and Beach Club, highlighted by a blistering 29 on his back nine. It was his lowest round since rejoining the PGA Tour in January—and it couldn't have come at a better time.

The 36-year-old American made headlines when he left LIV Golf in December and rejoined the PGA Tour just three weeks later. But the transition hasn't been smooth. Koepka has been forced to earn his way back into Signature Events, even serving as the first alternate at both the RBC Heritage and the Cadillac Championship without getting a tee time. Through his first few starts, he managed just one top-10 finish and three missed cuts.

For much of the week in Myrtle Beach, it looked like more of the same. But then came Saturday's charge—and the energy from the crowd.

When asked about the fans after his round, Koepka couldn't hide his appreciation. "Today I thought was really cool," he said. "Right when I started to make my run, it felt like the gallery doubled in size. I love that. They've been fantastic all week."

He added that the buzz from the crowd—especially as his group got closer to the leaders—made for a "fun experience." For a player who doesn't often wear his emotions on his sleeve, it was a rare moment of genuine connection with the gallery.

Koepka now heads into Sunday's final round in prime position to win for the first time since 2023. If the energy from the Myrtle Beach faithful carries over, he just might have the boost he needs to close the deal.
