What's next for Stefon Diggs? Six NFL teams that make sense for free agent

After being found not guilty of strangulation and assault and battery charges, the four-time Pro Bowler is in the market for another NFL job.

With the 2026 NFL Draft now in the rearview mirror, one of the league's most intriguing free agents is finally ready to make his move. Wide receiver Stefon Diggs, a four-time Pro Bowler, has been cleared of the legal troubles that kept teams at bay, and the market for his services is about to heat up.

On May 5, a jury in Dedham, Massachusetts, found Diggs not guilty of strangulation and assault and battery charges, which stemmed from allegations made by his former live-in chef. The verdict has opened the door for NFL teams to pursue the talented pass-catcher without hesitation.

"I just think teams have been reluctant to sign him with these false charges hanging over his head," said Mitchell Schuster, Diggs' attorney. "Now that he's been exonerated and his truth has been heard, I believe a team will reach out and sign him imminently. They'll be lucky to get him."

Still, Diggs faces a unique challenge. At 33 years old in November, he's no longer a spring chicken. His next team will be his fourth in four seasons, which raises questions about fit and longevity. But don't let the mileage fool you—Diggs is just 58 catches shy of 1,000 for his career, and his route-running, football IQ, and leadership remain elite.

Here are six NFL teams that could be the perfect landing spot for the veteran wideout:

1. New England Patriots
With a young quarterback in need of a reliable target, the Patriots could use Diggs' experience and production. Plus, he's already familiar with the area after his legal proceedings in Massachusetts.

2. Kansas City Chiefs
Pairing Diggs with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce would create a nightmare for defenses. The Chiefs love adding veteran playmakers, and Diggs could thrive in their high-powered offense.

3. Dallas Cowboys
Diggs' brother, Trevon Diggs, already plays cornerback for Dallas. A reunion in Texas would be a compelling storyline, and the Cowboys need another dependable receiver to complement CeeDee Lamb.

4. Baltimore Ravens
Lamar Jackson has never had a receiver of Diggs' caliber. The Ravens' run-heavy scheme could benefit from a savvy route-runner who can move the chains and stretch the field.

5. New York Giants
With a new quarterback situation and a need for veteran leadership in the receiving room, the Giants could offer Diggs a prominent role and a chance to be a focal point of the offense.

6. Houston Texans
Diggs already spent time with the Texans and knows the system. A return to Houston could provide stability and a chance to mentor younger receivers while still producing at a high level.

Wherever he lands, one thing is clear: Stefon Diggs still has plenty of football left in him. His next chapter is about to begin, and it promises to be a compelling one.
