Wessel Nijman is making 2026 his personal highlight reel on the PDC Pro Tour. The Dutch sensation clinched his sixth title of the year on Tuesday, storming to an emphatic 8-1 victory over Max Hopp in the final of Players Championship 14 at Halle 39 in Hildesheim.

Already the winner of Players Championships 2, 8, 10, and 12, plus the European Darts Trophy, Nijman is proving unstoppable. His path to the final was a masterclass in consistency, defeating Daniel Klose, Jurjen Van der Velde, Niall Culleton, Joe Cullen, Krzysztof Ratajski, and Danny Noppert along the way.

The final itself was a display of sheer dominance. Nijman raced to a 6-0 lead with legs finished in 16, 12, 14, 13, 15, and 12 darts—a blistering pace that left Hopp scrambling. Hopp finally got on the board in leg seven with a 15-dart break of throw, but it was only a brief respite. Nijman closed out the match in leg nine with another 15-darter, securing his ninth career PDC ranking title and the £15,000 top prize.

For Hopp, the run to his first ranking final in seven years was a significant achievement in itself. The former World Youth Champion defeated Christian Kist, Lewis Pride, Damon Heta, Rob Cross, Joe Hunt, and Tom Bissell before running into the Nijman juggernaut. He was denied a third career ranking title, but his performance signals a welcome return to form.

Elsewhere in the tournament, Austria's Mensur Suljovic and Dutchman Richard Veenstra reached the quarter-finals, with Veenstra lighting up the event with a nine-dart finish during his run. On the flip side, two-time World Champion Gary Anderson and Monday's PC13 winner Kevin Doets were among the high-profile first-round casualties.

With his sixth title already in the bag, Nijman is proving he's not just a rising star—he's a force to be reckoned with on the Pro Tour. The action continues next week, May 12-13, in Leicester with Players Championships 15 and 16.
