The Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) tennis tournament delivered two days of thrilling action on May 7 and 8 at South Hagerstown High School, showcasing the region's top high school talent. From dominant team performances to nail-biting individual matches, the event had it all.

On the boys' side, North Hagerstown proved unstoppable, cruising to the team title with 31 points. Clear Spring secured a solid second place with 19 points, while Boonsboro rounded out the top three with 17 points. Smithsburg and Williamsport tied for fourth with seven points each, and South Hagerstown finished sixth with two points. The Hubs' depth was on full display, setting the stage for a memorable championship run.

The girls' competition was a much tighter affair, with South Hagerstown edging out the field to claim the team title with 19 points. North Hagerstown finished just two points behind in second place, while Boonsboro was close behind in third with 16 points. Clear Spring and Williamsport tied for fourth with 13 points each, and Smithsburg placed sixth with four points. The Rebels' narrow victory highlighted the intense parity in the girls' bracket.

In boys' singles, the action started with a first-round thriller as Joe Bono of Smithsburg outlasted Anthony Ward of South Hagerstown in a three-set battle, 6-1, 5-7, 10-6. Owen Brooks of Clear Spring also advanced with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win over Charlie Barr. The quarterfinals saw top seeds assert themselves, with Brady Ernst of Clear Spring blanking Bono 6-0, 6-0, and Jake Miller of Williamsport defeating Eddie Boakye of Boonsboro 6-3, 6-1. Noah Tedards of Boonsboro and Phil Naberhaus of North Hagerstown also advanced with straight-set wins. The semifinals set up a clash of titans, as Ernst overpowered Miller 6-0, 6-1, while Naberhaus edged Tedards in a tense 7-6 (6), 6-1 decision. In the third-place match, Tedards bounced back to defeat Miller in a hard-fought 7-6 (0), 4-6, 10-5 contest.

Girls' singles featured its share of drama from the opening round. Sophie Goddard of Boonsboro started strong with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Annabella Perez of Smithsburg, while Addison Cline of Clear Spring took down Ari McCauley of North Hagerstown 6-0, 6-4. The quarterfinals saw Isidora McCarty of South Hagerstown dominate Goddard 6-0, 6-0, and Emery Smith of Smithsburg edge Malea Shingleton of Clear Spring 6-3, 7-5. Azaniya Genda of South Hagerstown and Julia Wright of Williamsport also advanced with strong performances. In the semifinals, McCarty continued her flawless run, defeating Smith 6-0, 6-1, while Genda dispatched Wright 6-1, 6-1 to set up an all-South Hagerstown final.

In boys' doubles, the first round saw Reese Rhodes and Evan Sisler of Boonsboro cruise past Avery Wamiru and Alex Flores Reyes of South Hagerstown 6-0, 6-0. Ben Galioto and Darius Geaman of North Hagerstown followed suit with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Jojo Campbell and Tryston Stone of Smithsburg. Daniel Partlow and Blake Souders of Smithsburg blanked Jaxon Grizzle and Adam Baker of Williamsport 6-0, 6-0, while Jacky Zou and Vincent Nguyen of Williamsport did the same against Wally Mbimba and Adriel Cuento of South Hagerstown. Colton Grossnickle and Sam Vanderford of Clear Spring also advanced, setting up a competitive bracket that showcased the depth of doubles talent in the county.
