After more than a decade away, the Eastern South Dakota Conference track and field meet is finally returning to Watertown. For the first time since 2011, the city will host this premier high school athletic event, bringing together top athletes from across the region for a week of intense competition.

Watertown's Alayna Smith dominated the girls' 100-meter dash, edging out teammates Anna Hirtz and Carighan Klatt in a thrilling finish that earned her the Class AA outstanding girls' track athlete of the meet honor.

Malia Kranz of Watertown claimed the girls' discus title with a throw of 144 feet, 2 inches, while Ella Sass of Clark-Willow Lake set a new Class A-B record in the same event with a toss of 104 feet, 8 inches. In the boys' competition, Jonas Geier of Watertown secured a fourth-place finish in the javelin, and Tate DeVries of Aberdeen Central powered to victory in the boys' 3,200-meter run.
