Even the world's best golfers have their off moments—and Shane Lowry's second round at the PGA Championship was a stark reminder that golf is a humbling game for everyone.

The Irish star, ranked inside the top 40 in the Official World Golf Ranking, had been riding high after a hole-in-one at the Masters earlier this year. But during Friday's action at Aronimink Golf Club, Lowry showed his mortal side with a shot that can only be described as a borderline shank on a par-3 hole.

Video of the moment quickly went viral, capturing Lowry's ball coming up dramatically short of the green. It was a swing that had fans and commentators alike calling it one of the most unexpected and amusing moments of the tournament.

Lowry had opened the championship strong, firing a 4-under 68 in Thursday's first round. With two top-10 finishes already this season—including a runner-up performance at the Cognizant Classic in the Palm Beaches—the 2019 Open Champion looked poised for another solid weekend.

But that one shaky swing changed everything. The mishit led to a double-bogey on the short hole, dropping Lowry to 2-over for the tournament and right on the projected cutline as of 11 a.m. ET.

Interestingly, par-3s had already proven to be Lowry's Achilles' heel. In his otherwise stellar first round, the only blemishes on his card came on the two par-3 holes he played Thursday.

"You're standing on the 8th tee and at the time the wind was like, who knows how far it was playing," Lowry explained after his opening round. "It was just a 7-wood and it was just kind of hit it and hopefully it gets around the green. Because you didn't want to miss it left. Long left was pretty much dead."

He added, "The par-3s are incredibly difficult. They're long around here."

For golf fans and weekend warriors alike, Lowry's moment serves as a comforting reminder: no matter how good you are, the game always finds a way to keep you humble. And for those of us who've ever shanked a shot, it's nice to know we're in good company.
