Coach Tina Langley and the Washington Huskies made another strong addition in the transfer portal on Tuesday morning when they picked up a commitment from former Colorado State guard Brooke Carlson.

After earning a spot on the All-Mountain West Freshman Team in the 2024-25 campaign, she followed that up with a stellar sophomore season. She finished second on the Rams in scoring, averaging 11.7 points per game, while leading her team with an average of 3.1 assists per contest, which should make her a versatile option on Washington's increasingly deep roster.

Carlson started all 35 of Colorado State's games last season and gives the Huskies another experienced option to rely on, whether it be in the starting lineup or off the bench.

After Elle Ladine's graduation, Langley is looking to fill her spot in the starting lineup as she continues to build around All-Big Ten First Team guard Sayvia Sellers, All-Big Ten honorable mention guard Avery Howell, and All-Big Ten Freshman Team forward Brynn McGaughy. With North Carolina State transfer Tilda Trygger expected to step in as the starting center, that only leaves one spot in the starting five to fill.

Whether that goes to Carlson or junior Devin Coppinger, the Colorado State transfer should be a valuable piece on Montlake. If she does wind up coming off the bench, she has the prowess as both a scorer and distributor to be a trustworthy secondary option to run the offense when Sellers is on the bench.

Carlson becomes the third transfer to join the Huskies this offseason, following Trygger and Oklahoma State guard Macey Huard, bringing Langley up to ten players on the roster, which should leave plenty of room for late additions from both the high school ranks and the transfer portal as UW continues to pursue local five-star forward Oliviyah Edwards.
