In the midst of a six-game losing streak, the Washington Huskies are looking to bounce back on the road against the Ohio State Buckeyes.

The Washington Huskies are heading into a make-or-break moment in their season. As the regular season winds down, Heather Tarr's squad finds itself on a six-game losing streak—dropping nine of their last 13 contests. With postseason play just around the corner, the Huskies are desperate to turn things around, and their final three-game series against the Ohio State Buckeyes offers the perfect opportunity to do just that.

A sweep in Columbus would secure a bye in the Big Ten Tournament as the No. 4 seed, giving the team a much-needed rest day before heading to College Park, Maryland. That extra breather could be a game-changer for a young roster that's been running on fumes. Last season, Washington stumbled out of the gate in the conference tournament with a loss to Indiana, and they're eager to avoid a similar fate this time around. A deep run in Maryland could reignite the momentum needed to host an NCAA Regional for the first time since 2023—and maybe even punch a ticket back to the Women's College World Series.

But to make that happen, the Huskies need to shore up their pitching. Over the last few weeks, the staff has been rocked, surrendering 17 home runs during the six-game skid. Granted, they faced powerhouse programs like No. 6 UCLA and No. 15 Oregon, but those long balls have exposed a vulnerability that could derail their postseason dreams if left unchecked.

At the plate, Washington has plenty of firepower to lean on. Kaycie Burdick, Alexis DeBoer, Giselle Alvarez, and Jadyn Glab anchor the top of the order, providing consistent production. And if left fielder Ava Carroll—who's been swinging a hot bat with a .360 average and 33 RBIs—can keep rolling after moving down in the lineup, the Huskies have the offensive depth to hang with anyone in the Big Ten.

The series kicks off Friday, May 1, at 3:00 p.m. PT. It's crunch time for Washington, and all eyes will be on whether they can rise to the occasion.
