The Washington Huskies are dancing again—and they're bringing a historic streak with them. For the 32nd straight season, head coach Heather Tarr's squad has earned an NCAA Tournament berth, a testament to the program's enduring excellence. This year, the journey to the Women's College World Series begins at Bogle Park in Fayetteville, Arkansas, where the No. 5 overall seed Arkansas Razorbacks await.

The regional, announced Sunday, also features Fordham and Washington's first opponent: South Florida. The Huskies (36-18, 16-8 in Big Ten play) are aiming for their first trip to the WCWS since 2023, but they'll need to shake off a rough stretch to get there. Washington has lost nine of its last 11 games entering the postseason, a slump that highlights the challenges of a relatively young roster.

Youth has been both a blessing and a hurdle for the Huskies this season. While the team boasts undeniable talent, a lack of experience showed in high-pressure moments, particularly against ranked opponents, where Washington posted a 2-12 record. Still, the core of this squad is formidable, led by first-team All-Big Ten selections: first baseman Alexis DeBoer and third baseman Giselle Alvarez. Pitcher Morgan Reimer earned second-team All-Big Ten honors, while center fielder Kaycie Burdick and shortstop Melody Acevedo were named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team.

"The Dawgs are Dancin'!" the team posted on social media, capturing the excitement of another postseason appearance. Washington and South Florida will face off on Friday, May 15, with the start time yet to be announced. For a program that has made the NCAA Tournament every year since 1995, this is more than just another bid—it's a chance to prove that even in a rebuilding year, the Huskies belong among the nation's elite.
