The Washington Huskies' pitching circle just got a little brighter. Morgan Reimer, the Canadian-born sophomore ace for Coach Heather Tarr, has been named to the All-Big Ten Second Team—a well-deserved honor that marks her first all-conference selection.
Reimer's rise has been nothing short of impressive. After earning D1 Softball's National Pitcher of the Week in late March and a spot on the NFCA All-Mountain Region Third Team, she continued to dominate early in the season. While she faced some tough competition later on against top-ranked teams like Oregon and UCLA, her overall performance was so strong that some analysts even considered her a contender for Big Ten Player of the Year.
Her numbers tell the story. Reimer's 23 wins were tied for the second-most in the conference, and she led the Huskies in nearly every major category. She ranked No. 2 in the Big Ten in innings pitched (168), No. 5 in complete games (12), No. 8 in ERA (2.75), and No. 9 in strikeouts (131). She also held opponents to a .254 batting average, with a 1.34 WHIP and 55 walks—both second-best on the team behind senior Sophia Ramuno.
Perhaps her most clutch moment came in the Big Ten Tournament, where she delivered a complete-game victory—the Huskies' first-ever in the tournament. She allowed just two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks, while striking out six. It's the kind of performance that builds momentum heading into the postseason.
As the Huskies await their NCAA Tournament destination on Sunday, all eyes will be on Reimer. Coach Tarr will likely hand her the ball to start the playoffs, and if her season is any indication, she's ready for the challenge.
