The Washington Huskies are making waves in Arizona, building a strong connection with Desert Edge High School—a program known for producing elite talent. On Wednesday, the Huskies' secondary coach, John Richardson, traveled to the Grand Canyon State to extend a scholarship offer to Nekhi Lambeth, a four-star cornerback in the 2028 class who is quickly becoming one of the nation's most coveted defensive back prospects.

Standing at 6 feet and weighing 175 pounds, Lambeth is ranked as the No. 77 overall recruit and No. 8 cornerback in the country by 247Sports. He's also the No. 5 player in Arizona, and with this offer, he's now collected 27 scholarship opportunities. Powerhouses like Georgia, Indiana, Miami, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and USC are all in the mix, but Washington is pushing hard for a specific type of cornerback—and Lambeth fits the mold perfectly.

During his sophomore season, Lambeth posted 18 tackles, one tackle for loss, two interceptions, and three pass breakups. His tape tells the story of a future starting outside cornerback at the college level. If there's one word to describe his game, it's "sticky." He's physical at the line of scrimmage, flips his hips smoothly to run with receivers, and has the athleticism to stay glued to an opponent's hip, preventing separation on any route. That combination of traits is why he's a top target for so many programs.

Washington's pipeline to Desert Edge is already thriving. The Huskies hold two commitments in the 2027 class from the school: four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and four-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney. They're also eyeing other prospects from the program, including five-star 2028 edge rusher Jalanie George. With Lambeth now in the picture, the Huskies are making it clear that Arizona is a key recruiting battleground for years to come.
