The Washington Huskies are making a major push in the transfer portal, hosting one of its most coveted backcourt talents this weekend. All-WCC First Team guard Mikey Lewis, a standout from Saint Mary's, was on campus in Montlake for an official visit Sunday.

Lewis arrives with a proven track record and a skill set that could immediately elevate the Huskies' offense. The 6-foot-3 combo guard averaged 13.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game as a sophomore, capping a stellar two-year run that also saw him earn WCC Sixth Man of the Year and All-Freshman honors.

For head coach Danny Sprinkle, this recruitment is a critical piece of a significant roster rebuild. After losing key guards Quimari Peterson to graduation and seeing Zoom Diallo, JJ Mandaquit, and Courtland Muldrew enter the portal, Washington is in dire need of backcourt scoring and playmaking to support junior Wesley Yates III.

Ranked as the No. 66 overall player and No. 10 combo guard in the portal by 247Sports, Lewis fits that bill perfectly. He's known as a dynamic, tough shot-maker, particularly off the dribble from long range—a skill that makes him a potent weapon in ball-screen actions. While scouts note he can be turnover-prone and isn't an elite finisher through contact, his craftiness, positional size, and defensive activity make him a high-impact target.

The battle for his commitment is heating up, with Lewis scheduled to visit Vanderbilt next weekend. For the Huskies, securing a player of his caliber would be a massive win, injecting proven scoring and All-Conference experience into a backcourt looking for its new leader.
