The Washington Huskies earned three-star center Reis Russell's commitment from a bond that was years in the making.

The Washington Huskies have landed a major building block for their future offensive line, securing a commitment from three-star center Reis Russell on Monday. The 6-foot-3, 290-pound prospect from Valor Christian High School in Colorado chose the Huskies over a star-studded list of finalists that included Georgia, Florida, Miami, Oregon, and USC—a testament to both his talent and the bond he formed with Washington's coaching staff.

Russell, who holds 35 offers from programs across the country, took official visits to several top schools, including a trip to Georgia in mid-April. But in the end, the pull of Montlake proved too strong to resist. "I went around, I visited a lot of other places, and I had a great time there," Russell told Denver Sports Media. "They're all fabulous options as well. But I feel like deep down in my heart, I just knew. I always knew it was home."

That sense of home was years in the making. Offensive line coach Michael Switzer made Russell a top priority early on, building a relationship that began during Russell's first trip to Seattle for Junior Day in the 2026 class. Since then, Russell became a familiar face on campus, making unofficial visits for several games during the 2025 season. "On that first visit, I sat down with him, and we talked for a long time," Russell recalled. "I felt like I'd known him for ten years after that conversation."

Head coach Jedd Fisch and his staff have made relationship-building a cornerstone of their recruiting approach, and the connection with Russell became so strong that the young lineman couldn't wait to make it official. "I was supposed to wait," he admitted. "But then I decided Sunday. I was like, I was going to do it Tuesday. Then I waited like an hour, and I was like, guys, I can't do this anymore. I've got to call him and make it official."

Russell becomes the 13th commit in Fisch's 2027 class—and the first offensive lineman to join the group. The class currently ranks No. 11 in the nation according to 247Sports, and adding a versatile, powerful center like Russell gives the Huskies a cornerstone piece to build around in the trenches for years to come. For fans looking to rep the future of Washington football, this is a name to remember.
