Golden State will aim to improve the roster around Steph Curry over the offseason.

The Golden State Warriors have missed the playoffs twice in the last three seasons, signaling that the window for another championship run with Steph Curry is closing fast. But according to recent speculation, the franchise could be plotting a blockbuster move that would shake up the Western Conference.

Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report has floated the idea of the Warriors trading for Los Angeles Clippers superstar forward Kawhi Leonard this offseason. This isn't just idle chatter—Golden State reportedly had interest in Leonard before the February trade deadline, though no deal materialized at the time. Now, with an entire offseason ahead, the stars might finally align.

"Leonard feels almost a little too perfect for this team," Buckley wrote. "The 34-year-old (35 in June) is in the same fight with Father Time as Curry and carries as many availability concerns as anyone. At the same time, Leonard remains a brilliant basketball player who impacts both ends of the floor like few others in the league."

There's no denying the risk. Leonard has just one year left on his current contract, and his injury history is well-documented. Trading for him without a guarantee of an extension would be a gamble for most teams. But the Warriors aren't most teams. With Curry still playing at an elite level, Golden State is in a unique position where they must maximize every remaining season of his prime. A short-term rental of a two-time Finals MVP might actually appeal to them more than it would to rebuilding squads.

Buckley added: "Leonard might represent the highest end of Golden State's trade budget, but he has enough question marks for us to think he can land within it. And he'd be an objectively awesome get for the Warriors, possessing the processing skills needed to fit this read-and-react system and the creation ability to break away from it when they just need a bucket."

Imagine a healthy Curry and Leonard sharing the floor—a combination of Curry's gravity from deep and Leonard's two-way dominance. It's the kind of pairing that could instantly vault the Warriors back into championship contention. Of course, health remains the biggest "if." But given Golden State's history of bold moves and their current urgency, don't be surprised if they roll the dice on one of the most talented, yet polarizing, stars in the league.
