The Saddlers have a new man at the helm. Walsall have officially appointed Lee Grant as their head coach, with the 43-year-old signing a three-year contract at the Pallet-Track Bescot Stadium.
Grant, who previously managed Huddersfield Town, steps in to replace Darren Byfield. Byfield, a former Walsall striker, had been serving as interim boss after Mat Sadler was dismissed back in March.
It's been a rollercoaster season for the club. Walsall finished 13th in League Two—a full 13 points adrift of the play-off places. That's a tough pill to swallow, especially considering they sat top of the table at Christmas. The new gaffer will be hoping to turn that early-season promise into a sustained push for promotion next time around.
