Three perfect games wasn't in the cards for Bearcats ace Taylor Tobin, but the junior did record 12 strikeouts and the offense backed her up enough to record a 4-1 verdict over the Highclimbers on Monday afternoon.

Tobin started the game with six straight strikeouts before Shelton adjusted and started to get baserunners, eventually tying the game in the third on a fielder's choice. W.F. West (10-2, 6-1 EvCo) head coach Kevin Zylstra was quick to give his opponent credit.

"They changed their approach; they are much improved," Zylstra said.

The Bearcats retook the lead on Tobin's RBI groundout in the fourth and some insurance came home in the seventh thanks to Avery Osborn's run-scoring triple and scoring on a Rayah Middleton sac fly.

Catcher Kenley Fragner recorded two hits and Allie Smitherman added a double. W.F. West struck out just once in 29 at-bats on the day. Up next it faces Aberdeen at home for the outright league lead.

"We're to the point of the season where they're all big games," Zylstra stated.
