This week's nominees are from Delphian, West Salem, Amity and Dallas track and field and Dallas, Cascade and McNary softball.

With the OSAA spring sports season heating up and playoffs just around the corner, Salem-area girls athletes are leaving it all on the field—and track. From softball sluggers to track stars setting season-best marks, this week's nominees for Maps Credit Union Athlete of the Week represent the best of the best. Here's a closer look at this week's standout performers:

Track & Field
- Curry (Delphian): This senior blazed to a 15.87-second victory in the 100-meter hurdles at the Amity Invitational on May 2, clocking the second-best Class 2A time this season.
- Griffin (West Salem): A sophomore to watch, Griffin cleared 5 feet, 3 inches in high jump for first place during a dual meet against McNary on May 6—good for the fourth-best 6A mark this spring.
- Hughes (Amity): The junior dominated the javelin with a throw of 136-7 at the Amity Invitational, the top Class 3A mark this season. She also won shot put at 37-4, ranking third in 3A.
- Nelson (Dallas): This sophomore sprinted to a 12.22-second 100-meter win at a tri-meet with Lebanon and Central on May 5, posting the fifth-best 5A time this season.

Softball
- Jones (Dallas): The junior pitcher was untouchable, striking out 14 batters and allowing just three hits in a full seven innings during the Dragons' 7-1 win over 6A Sandy on May 4.
- Tingle (Cascade): A sophomore with power, Tingle delivered two hits—including a home run—and a team-high four RBIs in the Cougars' 7-1 victory over Oregon West Conference rival Stayton on May 7.
- Wittnebel (McNary): This senior made quick work of South Salem on May 4, pitching two innings with four strikeouts in a three-inning 16-0 rout. She also added two hits and two RBIs at the plate.
