Spring sports are heating up as the postseason approaches, and the Eugene-Springfield area is buzzing with standout performances from talented young athletes. This week's Active Chiropractic Girls Athlete of the Week nominees showcase incredible dedication and skill across track and field, softball, and even the marathon. Let's meet the contenders!

First up, Elmira junior Petra Archer is making waves on the track. She blazed to a season-best 16.34 seconds in the 100-meter hurdles at a tri-meet against Roseburg and Willamette. That time ranks eighth among all Class 3A athletes this season—a testament to her hard work and speed.

Springfield's Sailor Hall is proving to be a powerhouse in the field events. At a dual meet with Thurston, she unleashed a season-best javelin throw of 123 feet, 2 inches—the fifth-best in the entire state, regardless of classification. Not stopping there, Hall also launched a shot put mark of 37-4, good for second-best among Class 5A girls this spring.

Churchill junior Malie McCoy turned heads at the Spartan Challenge with a personal-best 400-meter time of 59.76 seconds, securing fourth place. Her effort ranks 10th in the state among Class 5A girls, showing she's a force to be reckoned with on the oval.

Another Springfield standout, Violet Moran, is making her mark in the javelin. At that same dual meet with Thurston, she threw a personal-best 117-1, landing fourth-best in the state among Class 5A girls. Consistency and improvement are clearly her trademarks.

South Eugene senior Sydney Mucker took on a different kind of challenge—the marathon. She ran a personal-best time of 4:05:50 at the Eugene Marathon, all while supporting the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. It's a powerful reminder that athletic excellence can also drive meaningful causes.

Thurston junior Kelsie Raven is a dual threat in track and field. She posted a season-best triple jump of 35-1 1/2 at the dual meet with Springfield, ranking fourth among Class 5A girls. Raven also clocked a season-best 15.58 in the 100-meter hurdles, sixth in the state. Her versatility is unmatched.

Finally, Elmira senior Audrey Varozza shined on the softball diamond. She threw a five-inning shutout, striking out five and walking just one, leading the Falcons to a commanding 10-0 win over Creswell. At the plate, she went 3-for-3, proving she's a complete player.

These seven athletes represent the best of spring sports in our community. Now it's your turn to decide who deserves the top honor. Cast your vote at registerguard.com/sports by 9 a.m. Thursday. Every vote counts in celebrating these incredible performances!
