It's time to cast your vote for the Halifax Health Volusia-Flagler Boys Athlete of the Week for May 4-9—a week packed with state championship performances across multiple sports!

Last week's winner, Matanzas tennis star Stanislav Valenteychik, took home the honors with an impressive 58% of the vote. The senior delivered under pressure, winning the clinching tiebreaker in No. 3 singles to lead the Pirates past top-seeded Innovation in the Class 3A state quarterfinals.

This week's ballot is stacked with athletes who dominated at the state level. From track and field to weightlifting, these competitors brought their A-game when it mattered most.

Meet the nominees:

Jordan Haymon, Flagler Palm Coast: The senior capped his season with a Class 4A state championship as part of the Bulldogs' 4x400-meter relay team. He also blazed to a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 47.82 seconds.

Brison Sullivan, New Smyrna Beach: This senior made history at the Class 3A meet, capturing a state title and setting a new FHSAA record with a jaw-dropping 65.21-meter javelin throw.

Joseph Abrantes, Father Lopez: Abrantes claimed a Class 1A state title in the 154-pound weight class with a commanding 480 Olympic total, adding a second-place finish on the traditional leaderboard.

Brian Begnoche, Spruce Creek: At 199 pounds, the senior secured a Class 3A state crown with a powerful 615 Olympic total, also ranking third in traditional.

Todd Cutler Jr., New Smyrna Beach: The sophomore made a splash at the Class 2A meet, amassing a state-winning 585 Olympic total in the 183-pound weight class and finishing second in traditional.

Maverick Grimm, Father Lopez: The junior earned a 1A state title at 169 pounds with a 525 Olympic score, adding a third-place finish in traditional.

Matthew McFall, Flagler Palm Coast: McFall dominated the unlimited weight class at the Class 3A meet, seizing a state championship with a massive 660 Olympic total.
