Palm Beach County has long been a powerhouse in America's pastime, producing a remarkable legacy of baseball talent that spans nearly a century. From legendary high school coaches who built dynasties to MLB stars who lit up the big leagues, this region's contribution to the sport is nothing short of extraordinary.

Now, as part of USA Today Network's America 250 series celebrating the 250 greatest American sports figures, we're turning the spotlight on the all-time best baseball figures from Palm Beach County. And we want you to have your say.

This isn't just about stats and championships—though there are plenty of both. We're honoring trailblazers, trendsetters, and community icons whose influence goes far beyond the diamond. These are the players and coaches who shaped the very fabric of baseball in our region and beyond.

Narrowing down this list was no easy task. Palm Beach County has produced an incredible depth of talent at every level: high school standouts who became college stars, college stars who became MLB legends, and coaches who built programs that shaped generations of athletes.

Here's a look at some of the names that made the cut, listed in alphabetical order:

Scott Benedict – A foundational figure in Palm Beach County high school baseball, Benedict founded programs at Wellington High and Palm Beach Central, winning 588 games over 29 seasons as head coach. His 1999 Wellington Wolverines captured an FHSAA state championship, and his programs produced multiple MLB players, including Sean Burnett, Devon Travis, Brad Peacock, and Bobby Bradley—the No. 8 overall pick in the 1999 MLB Draft.

Dante Bichette – Few sluggers in Palm Beach County history could match Bichette in his prime. A four-time All-Star anchoring the Colorado Rockies' lineup in the 1990s, he put together a monster 1995 season that cemented his place among the game's elite hitters.

This is just the beginning. We'll be highlighting more Palm Beach County baseball greats who left their mark on the game—from the diamonds of local high schools to the bright lights of Major League Baseball stadiums across the country.

Stay tuned for more from our America 250 series, where we're celebrating the athletes who made their communities proud and helped define the sport we love.
