Voting is officially open for The Shreveport Times High School Athlete of the Week, and the competition is heating up as we celebrate the best non-football talent from northwest Louisiana. Sponsored by Raising Cane’s, the Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission, and Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics, this week’s ballot features standout student-athletes from 15 schools, including Airline, Benton, Loyola, North DeSoto, Calvary, Bossier, Byrd, Huntington, and Shreve.
From the court to the mat and the pitch, these athletes have been making waves in their respective sports, and now it’s your chance to support them. Head over to shreveporttimes.com and click on the “sports” section to cast your vote. The polls are open through Friday night, and the winner will be announced on Sunday, so every vote counts.
But the excitement doesn’t stop with the recognition. Weekly winners will score a fantastic prize package that includes a sleek backpack, a boxed lunch combo, and additional swag courtesy of Raising Cane’s and Cosse and Silmon Orthodontics. Plus, each winner gets a feature story highlighting their achievements, brought to you by The Times.
This week’s lineup of nominees is packed with talent. Among the contenders are Providence’s Lauren Hillman and Micah Gordon, Captain Shreve’s Ava Bogan and Riley Cram, North DeSoto’s Kade Tinsley, Loyola’s Nick Kampert, Evangel’s Ashton Dawson, and Benton’s Tenley Hesson.
