The Varsity 845 girls softball season is heating up, and it's time to recognize the athletes who are delivering standout performances. The polls are now open for the Players of the Week, covering the action from March 30 through April 12. These players have shown incredible skill at the plate and in the circle, and now it's your turn to decide who deserves the spotlight.

Coaches, make sure your athletes are in the running by submitting game reports or nominating one player from your team by Sunday afternoon. Remember, only one athlete per school is eligible each week, and a poll winner will be ineligible the following week. Last week's winners, Bethannie French of Middletown and Mia Leeper of Port Jervis, set a high bar with their impressive play.

Let's look at some of the recent highlights from the nominees. One player drove in four runs to power her team to a 16-6 victory, while another showcased her dual-threat ability with a single, double, triple, five RBI, and 10 strikeouts in a win. A pitcher threw a perfect game with 16 strikeouts, and yet another athlete hit for the cycle with four RBI. These moments of excellence are what make high school softball so thrilling to watch.
