Take Jen Gaspar, for example. During her four years at Dartmouth High School, she shattered the school's all-time scoring record for both boys and girls basketball with 1,840 points—a mark that stood until recently. She led Dartmouth to a staggering 71-9 record and four Eastern Athletic Conference championships. As a senior in 1995, she averaged 27.4 points and nearly 10 rebounds per game, powering her team to the state semifinals. Her accolades? The Dave Cowens Achievement Award, two-time New England Gatorade Player of the Year, Nike/Foot Locker and Parade Magazine All-American honors, and USA Today and Smith and Street's Female Athlete of the Year for Massachusetts.
