First up, Milton High's Ben Doak has already claimed the title with a staggering 30,600 votes, thanks to a monster week at the plate. In two baseball wins—10-3 over Newton North and 11-4 against Bridgewater-Raynham—Doak went a combined 7-for-9 with a double, four runs scored, and three RBIs. Talk about a hot bat!
Other nominees are equally impressive. Beale delivered a three-hit performance in a 15-5 win over Malden Catholic, then broke a 5-5 tie with an RBI double in a 9-5 victory over Catholic Memorial, sparking a four-run sixth inning. Meanwhile, Bonner shined in a 10-3 win over Marshfield, going 3-for-3 with a double, walk, two RBIs, and two stolen bases. He followed that up with a 2-for-3, two-run, one-RBI effort in a 6-3 win over Hanover.
Brown provided the drama with a game-tying three-run triple in the bottom of the 10th inning, then scored the walk-off run on an errant throw in an 8-7 thriller against Silver Lake. Earlier, he added a hit, three walks, four runs, and an RBI in a 16-9 win over Hingham, plus two runs and a steal in a 12-6 victory over Scituate.
Ceglie crushed a walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh to beat North Quincy, 8-7, while Connor reached a milestone with his 100th career goal in a 15-5 lacrosse loss to Marshfield. On the mound, Davidson tossed a complete-game two-hitter with 11 strikeouts in an 8-1 win over Whitman-Hanson, then slugged two home runs and drove in five runs in a 12-0 mercy-rule win over Quincy the next day.
Kenney was nearly untouchable, throwing eight shutout innings in a 1-0 win over Whitman-Hanson, allowing just three hits with seven strikeouts. He improved to 4-1 with a microscopic 0.43 ERA and 42 strikeouts on the season. In track & field, Louis dominated a tri-meet sweep of Bishop Fenwick and Arlington Catholic, winning the 100 meters (11.62 seconds) and high jump (5 feet 8 inches), plus anchoring the winning 4x100m relay that set a school record of 44.89 seconds alongside Tyler Ames, Carson Fava, and Patrick Cadogan.
Finally, O'Driscoll stepped up as an emergency goalie in the second half and overtime of a lacrosse game, allowing just one goal and making seven saves in a 6-5 win. Which athlete gets your vote? Make your pick and celebrate the best of South Shore high school sports!
