It's that exciting time of the week again when we celebrate the incredible talent on the South Shore! This week's Male Athlete of the Week nominees feature standout performances in baseball, lacrosse, track & field, and volleyball—and the competition was fierce.

After an impressive surge of over 26,000 votes, Archbishop Williams High's Nathan Killion has been crowned the winner. Killion delivered a game-changing performance, smashing a 3-run home run and driving in 5 RBIs to lead the Bishops to an 11-4 victory over Boston Latin School. He also collected 3 hits in a tough 9-2 loss to Sharon, proving his consistency at the plate.

But Killion wasn't the only star this week. The ballot was packed with athletes who left it all on the field. In volleyball, senior libero Basan anchored the Presidents' defense with a team-high 18 digs, helping Quincy break an 8-match losing streak against city rival North Quincy with a 3-1 win—their first since 2021.

On the diamond, several pitchers dominated. Flynn struck out 13 batters in a complete-game 1-hitter, allowing no earned runs in a 6-1 win over Abington. Horwitz followed suit with a 2-hitter, fanning 10 and surrendering just one earned run in a 9-2 victory over Carver. Kostek was perfect, throwing a perfect game with 11 strikeouts in a 3-0 shutout of Whitman-Hanson. And Van Dyk tossed a 1-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts in a 3-0 win over Scituate.

Hitters also shined. Doak went a combined 7-for-9 with a double, 4 runs, and 3 RBIs in two wins over Newton North and Bridgewater-Raynham. O'Keefe was a two-way threat, throwing a 3-hit shutout with 9 strikeouts and going 3-for-4 at the plate in an 11-0 win over Whitman-Hanson. In lacrosse, Donovan scored 8 goals in a thrilling 14-13 win over Norwell, while Sampson contributed 4 goals and an assist in an 8-7 victory over Hull.

Track and field saw Saint Vil dominate the jumps, winning both the long jump (21 feet 6.5 inches) and high jump (5-8) to help the Bulldogs secure a 79-58 win over North Attleboro.

Voting is now closed for this week, but the action never stops. Nominations for future athletes can be sent to cmcdaniel@wickedlocal.com. Making this list is an achievement in itself, so congratulations to all our athletes for their hard work and dedication. Stay tuned for next week's nominees, and keep chasing greatness!
