Girls' Nominees:
Faith Gentry, Phoenix South Mountain, Track & Field, Sr.
Faith launched herself into the Arizona record books at the Division I championships on May 9, winning the javelin with a massive throw of 143 feet, 5 inches. That mark now sits at No. 9 all-time in state history—a fitting cap to a stellar senior season.
Abby Roth, Phoenix Country Day School, Track & Field, Jr.
Abby was a force of nature at the Division V championships on May 9, claiming state titles in the 200 meters (25.99 seconds) and the 400 meters (57.68). She also placed fourth in the 100 meters (12.95), powering her team to the overall championship.
Kennedy Lamb, Bullhead City Mohave Accelerated, Softball, Sr.
Kennedy delivered a playoff performance for the ages on May 7, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBIs in an 8-1 win over Phoenix Horizon Honors. Oh, and she also struck out seven batters from the circle—talk about a double threat!
Boys' Nominees:
Tasimania “TJ” Gallahar, Chandler Arizona College Prep, Track & Field, Sr.
TJ was unstoppable at the Division II championships on May 9, winning three state titles: the long jump (24 feet, 0.25 inches), the 100 meters (10.86), and the 200 meters (21.85). His long jump mark leads the state this season.
Troy Babineaux, Goodyear Estrella Foothills, Track & Field, Sr.
Troy blazed to victory in the 100 meters at the Division III championships on May 9, clocking a blistering 10.60 seconds—the third-fastest time in the entire state this year.
Conner Hansen, Scottsdale Saguaro, Baseball, So.
This sophomore sensation caught fire in three 4A playoff games, going 6-for-10 with two home runs, two triples, a double, and a staggering 17 total bases. Add in four runs, five RBIs, and a stolen base, and you've got a recipe for a postseason legend in the making.
