It's time to cast your vote for the Detroit Free Press Buffalo Wild Wings Boys Prep Athlete of the Week, featuring five standout finalists from across Michigan high school sports.

This week's lineup showcases top talent from lacrosse, baseball, and boys volleyball, highlighting athletes who delivered exceptional performances between April 26 and May 2. These players represent Ecorse, Lakeland, Richmond, Romeo, and Allen Park—each bringing their A-game to the field, diamond, or court.

Meet the Nominees (in alphabetical order by last name):

DeCarlo (Ecorse): The senior pitcher was a force on the mound, throwing 12 innings and racking up 18 strikeouts to help the Raiders secure a five-game winning streak. Dominant performances like these are the backbone of any championship run.

Dorbin (White Lake Lakeland): A Mr. Volleyball finalist, Dorbin led the Eagles to four consecutive wins over Clarkston, Walled Lake Central, and Walled Lake Northern. His stat line was nothing short of stellar: 51 assists, 31 kills, and 14 aces—a true all-around performance that kept opponents guessing.

Evans (Richmond): In a doubleheader sweep against Imlay City on April 28, the senior outfielder and first baseman went 6-for-10 at the plate, delivering three singles, two triples, and four RBIs. Clutch hitting like this can change the momentum of any game.

Giacona (Romeo): The senior defenseman was a wall for the Bulldogs, collecting 13 ground balls and scoring three goals during a three-game winning streak against Port Huron, Utica Eisenhower, and Grand Blanc. Defense wins championships, and Giacona proved why.

Allen Park senior midfielder: Over three games, including a 10-3 win over Woodhaven and a 21-2 victory over Ann Arbor Greenhill, this standout recorded 28 ground balls, six assists, and five goals. That's the kind of versatility coaches dream of.

How to Vote and Nominate: Voting is open now in the poll below. We accept nominations through 10 a.m. each Monday for the previous week's games. To nominate an athlete for the week of May 3-9, visit freep.com/athlete. Please note: the nomination link is for submissions only—not for voting.

A Note on Fair Play: We reserve the right to disqualify any candidate or declare a vote "no contest" if tampering—such as bots or paid voting—is detected. Let's honor the integrity of the game, just as these athletes do every time they step on the field.
