It's time to vote for the Blue Water Area Athlete of the Week. See this week's candidates and cast your vote before Friday, May 8.

The competition is heating up in the Blue Water Area, and it's time once again to crown our Athlete of the Week! From the track to the diamond, these standout athletes delivered unforgettable performances between April 27 and May 2. Now, we need your vote to decide who takes the title.

Last week's winner set the bar high: Marysville softball's Tanner Wilton dominated the circle with a complete-game gem on April 24, racking up 11 strikeouts while allowing just three hits in a 12-0 victory over St. Clair Shores Lakeview. Can this week's candidates match that energy?

Here are your nominees, listed in alphabetical order:

Trey Cummins — Marysville boys track & field: Cummins was a one-man scoring machine in a dual meet against Warren Woods-Tower on April 28, tallying 14.25 points. He sprinted to first in the 100 meters (11.90 seconds) and soared to victory in the high jump (5.6 feet). Not done yet, he took second in the long jump (18.5 feet) and anchored the winning 4x200 relay team (1:37.23).

Caprii Fillar — Marine City girls soccer: Fillar was unstoppable last week, racking up five goals and three assists as the Mariners swept all three of their games. That's the kind of offensive firepower that turns a good week into a great one.

Liam Knuth — Cardinal Mooney boys track & field: Knuth left it all on the track at the Anchor Bay Invitational on May 1, setting personal records in both the 1,600 meters (4:51.30) and the 3,200 meters (10:44.63). When you're breaking your own bests, you know you're on the right path.

Cam Pruett — Port Huron Northern boys golf: Pruett carded a sharp 37 to lead the Huskies to a 154-170 win over Clinton Township Chippewa Valley on April 29. Consistency under pressure? That's a champion's mindset.

Joey Seppo — Port Huron baseball: Seppo did it all in five games last week, going 5-for-11 at the plate with four doubles, three RBIs, two runs, six walks, and a stolen base. Oh, and he also tossed a scoreless inning of relief with a strikeout. Talk about a complete player.
