After winning the city doubles title last season, Fay made a smooth return to singles play in his final high school campaign, proving his versatility and determination.

Hayes Delivers Clutch Hit for Shawnee Heights
With the Thunderbirds trailing 2-1 and down to their last out, senior Hayes stepped up to the plate and delivered an opposite-field single that scored two runs. The dramatic hit lifted Shawnee Heights past Piper and kept their hopes of winning the United Kansas Conference championship alive.

Hubbell Walks It Off for Rossville
Junior Hubbell came through in the clutch on Wednesday, April 29, smacking a walk-off single to give Rossville a thrilling 7-6 win over Holton. The victory was part of a hot stretch for the team, which has now won seven of its last nine games.

Freshman Johnson was electric at her school's home invitational on Friday, May 1. She won both the 100-meter dash (12.36 seconds) and the 200-meter dash (25.83 seconds), posting the fastest times in Shawnee County this season. Her 100-meter time also leads the United Kansas Conference and ranks among the top five in Class 5A statewide.

Kehoe Dominates Distance
Senior Kehoe continued to establish himself as the city's premier distance runner, winning the 3,200-meter event at the Seaman Relays with a time of 9:23.61. That mark is his fastest of the season and just seven seconds shy of his personal best.
