It's time to cast your vote for the PuroClean of Melbourne Boys Athlete of the Week, honoring standout performances from May 4-10. This is the final vote of the 2025-26 school year, so make it count!

Last week's winner was Jesse Decter of Merritt Island baseball, and now a new group of talented athletes is vying for the title. The ballot is at the bottom of this page—if it doesn't appear right away, just refresh. Voting runs until noon on Thursday, May 14, with one vote allowed per device per hour.

Here's a look at the nominees and their impressive achievements:

Track and Field Stars Shine at State Meets

Several athletes delivered standout performances at the state track and field finals in Jacksonville. At the Class 1A meet on May 6, Spreitzer claimed the state title in the 1600 meters (4:14.51), took second in the 3200 (9:26.77), and helped his 4x800 relay team to a third-place finish. Meanwhile, Roy earned silver in both the 110 and 400 hurdles and was part of the sixth-place 4x100 relay team.

At the Class 2A meet on May 7, Dowdell won the state championship in the 3200 meters (9:31.07). Evans placed 12th in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 meters, also contributing to an eighth-place 4x100 relay finish. Plechaty took second in the javelin.

In the Class 3A meet on May 8, Gordon was a triple threat, winning the state title in the 400 meters, placing second in the 200 meters, and third in the 100 meters.

At the Class 4A meet on May 9, Paul earned a bronze medal in the long jump and finished sixth in the 400-meter dash.

Basketball Nominee

Rounding out the nominees is Michael Barna from Melbourne Central Catholic basketball.
