Spring is heating up, and so is the competition on the fields and courts across Fort Collins. As we enter championship season, it's time to recognize the incredible young athletes who are leaving it all out there. We're thrilled to partner once again with Blue Federal Credit Union to bring you the latest Athlete of the Week series for the 2025-26 school year.
This week marks the 32nd installment of our weekly celebration, and with May upon us, the stakes have never been higher. From track and field to soccer and tennis, these nominees represent the very best of Fort Collins-area high school sports. Voting is open now through 11:59 a.m. on May 7, with the winner announced later that same day. Make your voice heard at coloradoan.com/sports.
Here are your nominees for this week: standouts from HCA, Timnath, and Poudre track & field, along with stars from Liberty Common soccer and Rocky Mountain tennis. Each of these athletes has delivered a performance worthy of your vote.
This season has already seen some unforgettable moments. It all started back in August when Rocky Mountain football's Bode Nesbitt took the opening kickoff of the season to the house against Northglenn. Poudre's Owen Addington followed with a dominant 2-0 week in tennis, dropping just six games across four sets. PSD's Marli Brenner made waves in September with 13 tackles, two sacks, and a touchdown catch against Eagle Ridge Academy.
The fall continued to shine with Wellington softball's Kensley Story, who crushed two home runs, drove in four runs, scored eight, and swiped five bases in a perfect 3-0 week. PSD flag football's Jordyn Peterson showed her speed with three catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns in a win over Legacy. Fossil Ridge's Emery Johnson was a force at the Nike Southwest Nationals, tallying 58 kills, five aces, six blocks, and 44 digs.
Quarterback Brooke Pravlik of PSD lit up the scoreboard with over 300 total yards and four touchdowns against Aurora Central and Mountain Range. Fossil Ridge's Briella Myers went an incredible 10-for-11 at the plate with two homers, three doubles, and four RBIs in just three games. And Olivia Ewing of Fossil Ridge closed out a strong October with 19 kills and 16 blocks in high-level wins over Valor.
Now it's your turn to decide who takes home the title this week. Check out the full ballot and cast your vote before the deadline. These athletes have earned the spotlight—now let's give them the recognition they deserve.
