The Coloradoan is again proud to present our weekly Athlete of the Week series, partnering with Blue Federal Credit Union to honor the best Fort Collins-area high school athletes in the 2025-26 school year.

There are five nominees every week, and fans can vote every Monday through Thursday at coloradoan.com/sports.

This is the 30th week of the 2025-26 sports season as we near a full-on sprint toward championship season in spring athletics.

You can find the nominees and the ballot below. Voting is open this week until 11:59 a.m. on April 23, with the winner announced later that same day.

Rocky Mountain football's Bode Nesbitt was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Aug. 18-23 after returning the opening kickoff of the season for a TD vs. Northglenn.

Poudre's Owen Addington was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Aug. 25-30 after a 2-0 week in which he dropped just 6 games in 4 sets.

PSD's Marli Brenner was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Sept. 1-6 after recording 13 tackles, 2 sacks and a TD catch vs. Eagle Ridge Academy.

Wellington softball player Kensley Story was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Sept. 8-13 after hitting 2 home runs with 4 RBIs, scored 8 runs and stole 5 bases in a 3-0 week.

PSD flag football's Jordyn Peterson (middle, pink mouth guard) was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Sept. 15-20 after catching 3 passes for 102 yards and 2 TDs in a win over Legacy.

Fossil Ridge's Emery Johnson was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Sept. 22-27 after compiling 58 kills, 5 aces, 6 blocks, 44 digs and 143 serves received during the Nike Southwest Nationals tournament.

PSD quarterback Brooke Pravlik was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Sept. 29-Oct. 4 after combining for over 300 total yards and 4 touchdowns against Aurora Central and Mountain Range.

Fossil Ridge's Briella Myers was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Oct. 6-11 after going 10-for-11 with 2 HRs, 3 2Bs and 4 RBI in three games.

Fossil Ridge's Olivia Ewing was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Oct. 13-18 after recording 19 kills and 16 blocks in high-level wins over Valor Christian and Windsor.

Poudre School District field hockey goalkeeper Allison Bruning (yellow jersey) was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Oct. 20-25 after hitting 100 saves on the season in a win vs. St. Mary's Academy

Fossil Ridge's Alyssa Cottingham was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Oct. 27-Nov. 1 after recording 21 kills, six digs and 14 serves received in a 2-0 week.

PSD Stars gymnast Kate Gundelfinger was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Nov. 3-8 after earning all-state honors after a 5th place beam finish at the state meet.

Wellington girls basketball player Ava Essay was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Dec. 1-6 after averaging 15.5 points and 3 steals in a pair of season-opening wins.

Fossil Ridge girls swimmer Gracie Thornton was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Dec. 8-13 after sweeping 4 individual race titles and helping the SaberCats sweep 4 relay titles across a city tri-meet and Windsor's Candy Cane Invite.

Fossil Ridge boys basketball player Malachi Egbuji was the Blue FCU Athlete of the Week for Dec. 29 to Jan. 3 after a perfect shooting performance with 18 points in a SaberCats' win over Severance.

Fort Collins basketball's Annika VanDalen was the Blue FCU Girls Athlete of the Week for Jan. 5-10 after a prolific all-around week in wins over city rivals.
